This porcelain vessel was inspired by Jun Ware made during the Song Dynasty. These pots are characterized as sturdy and simple in profile, with opalescent blue and purple glazes. The classic Chinese glazes relied on iron, phosphorous, copper, and titanium for the color and "floating" opalescent effects. However, those glazes were fired in reduction, hence the iron creating blues and copper reducing to a red. Instead, I am using a chrome tin glaze that produces similar effects but in oxidation.
