We will meet every Wednesday night at 6:00pm-8:30pm for 6 weeks from April 16th, 2025- May 21st 2025, with open studio hours on Saturdays and Sundays (Come anytime you like, for as long as you like. Door code will be provided) Three students total. This means I can give my full attention to just you three, and covering all the technical aspects of throwing :) We will be throwing exclusively with porcelain on the wheel. Get ready to up your skill level and take on some unique projects! EXAMPLE CURRICULUM: Week 1: Introduction to the studio, throwing demo, throwing Week 2: Trimming. Then throwing again, pulling taller and more interesting shapes. After this point, try to do all trimming during open studio. Week 3: More complex designs like boxes, closed forms, bottles, handles, chattering, etc Week 4: Glaze, more wheel time. Week 5: Final pieces, this weekend will be the last time to make new work. Week 6: Glazing and final touches You will have full access to the studio space and use of the tools, including underglazes, chemicals, heat gun, photography equipment, etc. CLAY IS PROVIDED. All students will share dedicated and spacious shelf storage for all their work. Feel free to bring your own tools and leave them here. Please be mindful to clean up well (after all, there are only three of you!) Set-up and clean-up time usually takes about 15 mins each. This is a newly renovated space close to the F,G,Q trains, as well as many buses. I have an air filter, windows, A/C unit. The unique sink trap system keeps the plumbing clean and my studio is also very clean (check the photos!) . We fire to cone 6 oxidation. $0.06/cubic inch (covers both bisque and glaze firings). Please note that this class is a learning and sharing space. It is NOT a membership space (aka no production pottery). There are only 6 weeks, so 2 absences is missing a third of the class. However, you can sit in on the Monday class for make-up. Skill development over making a product :)
